The short version
Buck Hunt is a single-player game that runs entirely on your device. There is no account to create, nothing to log in to, and no server of ours keeping a copy of your hunt.
- We do not collect, store or sell personal information.
- There is no advertising, no analytics and no tracking of any kind.
- Your save file, trophies and settings stay on your iPhone.
- Purchases are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details.
- One optional feature — Avatar Studio — sends a photo you choose to an image service to draw your portrait. It is off unless you use it.
Who we are
Buck Hunt is made by Local Team Partners ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Buck Hunt iOS app and this website. If any part of it is unclear, write to us — the contact address is at the bottom.
What the game stores
Everything the game remembers is written to your device's own storage, inside the app's private container:
- Your progress — territories, harvests, scores, trophies and the state of your lodge and property.
- Your money, gear, crafting materials and in-app purchase entitlements.
- Settings such as audio and haptics preferences.
- Your hunter portrait, if you have made one.
None of this is transmitted to us. We have no server that receives game data, and no way to read your save. If your device is set up to back up to iCloud, iOS may include the app's data in that backup — that backup is controlled by you and Apple under Apple's privacy policy, not by us.
Deleting the app deletes the save. There is nothing left behind on our side to delete, because nothing was ever sent.
What we do not collect
To be specific, Buck Hunt contains no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising network, no attribution or tracking framework, and no social or leaderboard integration. We do not ask for the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and we do not track you across apps or websites. We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, health data or device identifiers.
In-app purchases
Buck Hunt offers optional in-app purchases. These are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. Apple handles the payment; we never receive or store your card number, billing address or Apple Account details. What the app receives back is a receipt confirming that a purchase was made, which it uses to unlock the item on your device.
Apple may also give us aggregate, anonymous sales reporting — units sold and revenue by region. That reporting does not identify individual customers. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Avatar Studio — the one feature that goes online
Avatar Studio is an optional feature that turns a photo of you into a cartoon hunter portrait for your lodge. It is the only part of the game that uses the internet, and it only runs when you deliberately choose a photo and ask it to.
What happens to the photo
- You pick an existing photo or take one with the camera. The app never reads your photo library on its own — iOS only hands over the single image you select.
- The image is resized on your device and sent to Replicate (replicate.com), which runs the Black Forest Labs FLUX Kontext image model to draw the portrait.
- The generated portrait comes back and is saved on your device. The rest of the processing — cutting your hunter out of the background — happens on the device.
We do not keep a copy of the photo you supply or the portrait it produces, and we do not attach your name or any identifier to the request. The photo is handled by Replicate under Replicate's privacy policy and its terms with its model providers; their retention practices are theirs, not ours. If you would rather no image of you leave your device, simply do not use Avatar Studio — every other part of the game works without it.
To remove a portrait, replace it in Avatar Studio or delete the app.
This website
buckhunt.app is a static site. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics and embeds no third-party scripts or trackers. Our web server keeps ordinary access logs — IP address, timestamp, requested page, user agent — which exist for security and troubleshooting, are not used to build a profile of you, and are rotated on a short schedule.
Children
Buck Hunt is not directed at children under 13, and because the app collects no personal information, none is knowingly collected from children. Avatar Studio should only be used with the permission of a parent or guardian if the player is a child. Parents can disable in-app purchases entirely using iOS Screen Time restrictions.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export and delete the personal data a company holds about you, and to opt out of its sale. We hold none: there is no account, no profile and no database of players. We have never sold personal information and have no plans to. If you believe we hold something about you, ask and we will tell you honestly.
Changes to this policy
If the game's behaviour changes — a new feature that talks to a server, for example — this page will be updated before that feature ships, and the "last updated" date at the top will change. Material changes will also be called out in the app's release notes.
